After 35 years of cooking and almost 13 years of owning The Kitchen CarryAway & Catering (formerly known as Let Holly do the Cooking), I have been thinking long and hard about doing something new and equally as rewarding. Recently I’ve had an “ah ha” moment that I am excited to share with you. I have always found deep satisfaction in giving back to the community and want to take my love of volunteer work and my knowledge of food to create a way to feed people differently. I am involved with our local food pantry and find the work extremely meaningful!
My inspiration came in part from looking at my family’s past. My Grandmother Thomas owned a catering business in Richmond in the 50’s and 60’s called The Casserole Kitchen. Coming full circle and fast forward 50 + years, I have become known for my casseroles, both entrée and sides.
My idea is to donate a portion of the casserole profits in the following scale to non-profit organizations who feed the hungry such as The Food Pantry of Highlands, Empty Bowl, and MANNA Foodbank:
• $1 / 2 serving
• $2 / 4 serving
• $1 / serving on larger quantities
As sales grow, I hope to create a non-profit subsidiary of my business and increase my giving.
I have taken the business off the market and will continue to operate The Kitchen CarryAway & Catering. I am looking to expand my line of casseroles under the label, The Casserole Kitchen with the slogan Eat Well, Do Good! This project has re-energized my enthusiasm for my business and my future!
Please keep my endeavor in your thoughts and prayers and remember: Eat Well, Do Good!
